Soojin Zeman, Ph.D. is an electrochemist at the Materials Discovery Research Institute. She specializes in in-situ and operando electrochemical analysis, high-throughput material simulation tests, and scalable system development, with the goal of enabling safer and more sustainable energy technologies.
Prior to joining the Materials Discovery team, Zeman was an electrochemist at Advanced Ionics. She contributed to research and development focused on electrolyzer development with high-throughput material screening, performance, and durability strategies, and AI and machine learning-driven diagnostics for automatized failure-mode analysis. In addition, she mentored early-career researchers and bridging fundamental science with applied innovation.
As a Ph.D candidate, she applied advanced electrochemical and spectroscopic analysis to investigate catalytic reaction mechanisms and material behavior, building a strong foundation for diagnosing complex electrochemical systems from half-cell to full-cell set up. During her postdoctoral research, she integrated diverse analytical instruments with electrochemistry to perform in-situ and operando studies with fabricated 2D electrodes to trace material status change through electrochemical processes.
