Conor Brew is a research scientist in the accelerated methodologies group at the Materials Discovery Research Institute. He oversees and operates the scanning electron microscopy lab. In addition, he performs XRD, XRF, and micro-XRF analysis for internal customers and develops methods to enable high-throughput sample preparation and data analysis.
During his studies, Brew researched precipitation kinetics, microstructure evolution, and strengthening mechanisms in additively manufactured aluminum alloys for use in transportation. In addition, he interned at Applied Thin Films, Inc., where he developed workflows for rapid composite characterization by image segmentation and was responsible for SEM/EDS analysis of a wide range of materials for aerospace applications. He joined the Materials Discovery team in 2024 after completing his M.S.
Brew holds a B.S. and an M.S. in materials science and engineering from Northwestern University
